BT Ocean was a tricky project from the word go – not just because of the scale, but there were a lot of eyes on it at the client side, making everyone a little jittery. Lots of delicate meetings, patience, reassurance and hand-holding was required to get the project over the line.

A nice concept had been bought for the DM – split pages, kind of like a kid’s flip book – to demonstrate the “turn on / turn off” proposition of a basic package, with ‘bolt-ons’. But nobody had thought about if it was feasible to make, especially in volume (in excess of a million units). As far as challenges go, this one had it all and we were holed up for two months in our ‘war room’.
